Block or Restrict Friend Requests from Unknown People on orkut

Many of us don’t like adding unknown people to our friends list on Orkut. However there are people who keep sending friend requests to every other person just to increase their friends count. Personally speaking, each day I get 20+ requests on Orkut, but my friends list is limited to 112 only at this moment. I really don’t like adding unknown people to my list and that’s why I manually decline their pending requests everyday. However, you can use a filter to automatically block friend requests from unknown people.Orkut has a privacy settings from where you can filter incoming friend requests. You can choose to get friend requests from unknown people or from people from your country only or from the people who are in your friend’s list. To set these filters, navigate to Settings >> Privacy >> Friend requests are allowed to sent by

Here you will notice few options. For an easy explanation I’ve marked the options as 1, 2 and 3.
1.Select the second option that says “Anyone who fits one of the following options” to start filtering
2.First sub-option gets activated automatically once you select the above option. This will ask people to enter your email address in order to send friend requests. Persons who don’t know your email address won’t be able to send requests to you. (Tip : How to find anyone’s email address)
3.Second sub-option will make the privacy settings more stronger by allowing friend requests from those persons who are in at least one of your friend’s list
4.Orkut is available worldwide and hence if you want to receive requests from people of selected countries only, tick the third sub-option
Click on Save to save the changes you have made. Now no one who does not meet above requirements won’t be able to send friend requests to you. This is the best way to avoid unwanted friend requests on Orkut.

How to Add your Crush list on Orkut

Orkut crush list is specially designed to promote Orkut user’s crush feelings. You can add anyone to your crush list without revealing anything to the person. Now if the other person shares the same thoughts for you and adds you to his/her crush list, Orkut will send an email to both of you with a sweet note like both of you like each other. This is a pretty cool concept to grab some love on Orkut.

How to add someone to Orkut crush list

1.Navigate to anyone’s profile and click on More link from left sidebar

2.Click on add to crush list option to add the person to your crush list

3.You will see a notification once you have added the person successfully

4.You are done.
You can see the persons from your crush list by heading to lists >> crush list. You can manage your crush list by deleting persons from this interface.

Chat is an Orkut application developed by an Indian, Arvind. Now if you add this application in your profile, you need not to go and use several other messengers like Yahoo/MSN/GTalk. You can chat with anyone using this application, even when you are on orkut. They also claim that you can check your mails from your Gmail account. Nice one!

IQ Test
Everyone in this world try to be known as a smarter and witted person. Don’t they? So, this application helps you with a 15 minute IQ test. And the most interesting thing is that, once you start the test, you have to give this test for 15 minutes. No breaks or nothing. It will show you 30 questions and you have to answer them all. At last it will show you the answer and your result. As they have a very limited nos of question sets, they ask users to take the test only once. Lolz, I scored 111 marks, whick means I gave 17 right answers out of 30 quoestions, they rewared me as a person above average. I am impresed, lolz

Horoscopes
As the name difines. It lets you know your daily horoscope. They also have a facility that sends your daily horoscope by SMS. But I would recomend you guys not to subscribe it. Initially I was subscribed to it, I used to get daily horoscope by SMS, but since last few days, I am getting SMS from them post mindnight of the next day. That’s pretty useless, and even they have no facility to unsubscribe. IMO, it sucks.

Orkut friends map combines the power of google maps with orkut profiles. You need to follow these simple steps to use this cool feature in orkut:

1. Click the view friends link in the my friends box on yourright on the orkut home page.
2. Now click on the friends map tab at the top of the page.
